Genitourinary Cancer Data and Biospecimen Repository

The Genitourinary Cancer Data and Biospecimen Repository at Yale School of Medicine was established to greatly enhance the ability of scientists to perform translational cancer research. Having access to clinical cancer specimens will allow investigators to study urologic cancers including improving our understanding of the mechanism behind cancer predisposition, progression and resistance to therapy. The GU Repository serves as a valuable resource of high quality, clinically annotated bio-specimens including fresh, snap frozen, paraffin embedded tissue and bodily fluids including blood, urine and ascites fluids. We are a full service processing and banking laboratory that is committed to meeting the investigators’ study goals. We can also customize the prospective procurement based on the project needs.

Samples received by GU biorepository are processed accordingly to standardized laboratory methods and quality control practices. Our services include tissue procurement and processing (snap frozen, FFPE, OCT), blood fractionation into plasma, serum, buffy coats, urine procurement, isolation of DNA, RNA and proteins and more. All specimen information is recorded in a laboratory information database (OnCore) that also contains patient information including demographics, clinical, pathologic data.
